· Fun in the Sun, that’s right folks! I am excited to announce that I have been selected as the official personal trainer for the Miss Teen USA Fantasy Camp at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. I am very excited to announce a new “blurb” that will be included in my newsletters. Kristie Koerner, a long time client and a recent Vanderbilt graduate, who is pursuing her registered dietician license will be writing a monthly blurb in my newsletters focusing on nutrition, healthy recipes, menu recommendations, etc. I am very excited to share her expertise and know that you will enjoy reading her entries. FREE! Vitamin D, that is...



Despite April showers, May will bring beautiful flowers and SUNNY weather! From the sun, the body can convert Vitamin D into its active form. Receive 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight at least 2-3 times a week, on your arms and legs - walk, run, swim, or just hang out with friends and family. But don’t forget to protect your face with sunscreen!



Vitamin D helps to prevent osteoporosis, or bone loss, and may reduce the risk of breast, colon, and prostate cancers. It enhances calcium absorption, and it helps to fight gum disease as well as tooth loss.



Recommended = 200 to 400 IU per day (no more than 2000 IU per day)



Salmon (3.5 ounces) = 360 IU

Tuna (3 ounces) = 200 IU

Milk (1 cup) = 100 IU

Fortified Orange Juice (1 cup) = 100 IU

Fortified Yogurt (6 ounces) = 80 IU

Fortified Breakfast Cereal (1 serving) = 40 IU

Egg (1 whole) = 20 IU

Shrimp (3 ounces) = 90 IU
